Welcome back to the ongoing biblical saga of Abraham and Isaac! Since so much time is passing between posts, here’s a link back to the beginning of this story arc.

Quite honestly, this one took forever to figure out exactly how I wanted to do it. I wanted to give Isaac his moment on the altar, but I also wanted to contextualize it a little bit. And since the strips are coming monthly, I wanted it to be able to stand on its own for people who can’t remember where they are in the storyline and don’t want to go back to reread a few strips.

For a while, the text seemed to be scattered all over the place – until I decided to put the bulk of it in that little black panel to the left.

What I liked about black box solution is that it reminded me of those insane Chick religious tracts that I used to see a lot when I was a kid. And they’re still being published – because, if horror movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street have taught us anything, it’s that crazy doesn’t die.

If you’re not familiar with the Chick booklets, here’s a link to the Chick website to see what I’m talking about. But be warned, you may get lost in crazyland for a while.

As slow as I’ve been getting new strips posted this summer, I’ve still got some fairly ambitious goals for when this story arc ends. I’m crossing my fingers that I’m going to be able to step up the process again sometime in the not-too-distant future.

In the meantime, thanks again for stopping by.
